If you really don't want to make your own convenience foods but want to save money, look for a bulk food store ( find a busy one so it turns over often and stays fresh)... no fancy packing but they usually offer a cost savings. Even things like sun-dried tomatoes can be purchased in bulk, as can seasonings. (Watch sodium content)
